I’ve just removed a post that had c*&t in the title. I’m not going to get into specific rules, but I don’t want that language in post titles. In comments etc in context, fine. But post titles are displayed to all users without the possibility of being filtered.

Please think of others when posting.

How do posts marked NSFW work? Would it not make sense to require those with swear words or adult content to be marked NSFW. Those that don’t wish to see would have it filtered, but it doesn’t restrict the freedom of speech of others. Sometimes expletives are appropriate.

They’re not mutually exclusive, but I would guess there is a trend towards incivility with increased expletives.

However, there is also a use case for venting, for comedy and for absolute dog cunts, being appropriately named.

I second this. Be pedantic and specific. I’m still pretty new here and would like to know what’s acceptable before upsetting people. Let it be known though, that I’m still not used to the multitudes of different frameworks in different instances and the apps that access them that are popping up, so even if it’s in sidebar, there’s a very good chance I won’t see it because I’m absolutely never sure what instance or community/magazine/sub-instance I’m posting to or used to think about about it yet at all - it’s just: read, respond, repeat.

I want to be appropriate and follow rules, but I think a lot of this stuff is gonna have to be tested organically and it’s better to have it written out explicitly beforehand. Don’t assume anything is intuitive or common knowledge.

Yeah sidebars on Reddit were located in a dropdown menu, too, at least in baconreader, what I used. Rip <3 baconreader

On the topic of low quality memes vs discussion posts and whether or not there should be specific sub-instances (sub-in’s? Subbins? Subbin? Sub? Iunno…), I’m a strong proponent of letting it all do organically. I think having low effort stuff is fine, and people that want more discussion will find that too. I like both and all, call me pan-content’ist (no, I didn’t cringe, you cringed). Should definitely appropriate the rainbow flag to show everybody’s welcome, and not at all just to piss off bigots and nazis which can all suck it and stay mad.
