Nothing in particular, I just like this one. I guess unique catchy music and nice visuals that aren’t too convoluted or hectic.
I don’t like 99.99% of openings, so I’m pretty picky. Most suffer from generic overproduced music and generic visuals IMO. Sometimes one is great, but not the other. Rarely do they both fit together harmoniously like one unit. And many ops are often choppy, like playing a note wrong but for visuals. Even most of my favorite show’s OPs suck. I’m not gonna give any examples, because I don’t want to insult anyone’s tastes lol.
Tokyo Ghoul, Magical Destroyers, Origin: Spirits of the Past are by far the best, they just hit different. Especially that last one nails the synchronization between the visuals and the music.
I don’t really see a pattern in any of these, so not what I like about them, other than:
I think other than Lain I haven’t seen any of them, and will give them a go.
Tokyo Ghoul might be a little later tho, after watching 1 episode I felt I need to be in a specific type of mood to give it a proper watching.
Tokyo Ghoul first season is amazing, after that it gets progressively more unwatchable IMO, but if you have the time it’s okay.
Here are some of my favorites, excluding the ones we already talked about: Cyberpunk Edgerunners, Black Lagoon, Golden Kamuy, Your Lie in April, Kill La Kill, Ergo Proxy, Cowboy Bebop
And I know what you mean, all of these you should be in the right mood for, otherwise it would be a waste.
These are also nice:
Trigun (everything except Stampede), Claymore, Eureka 7, Last Exile, Gangsta, Jormungand, Gargantia On The Verduous Planet, Dagashi Kashi, Gun Grave, No Guns No Life, Outlaw Star, Michiko & Hatchin, Dimension W, Violet Evergarden, Hellsing Ultimate, Space Dandy
Most of these are adventure/action/scifi/postapocalyptic, crews of people/outlaws often on ships or space ships. That is my thing.
Out of these I have seen Your Lie in April, Kill La Kill, Eureka 7, and Hellsing (both).
These were great, so looking forward to watching your recommendations.
Claymore is the only one I’ve watched that comes close to the feel of Berserk, tho they aren’t on the same level.
And if you like Eureka 7, Last Exile and Gargantia on the Verduous Planet are very similar. Also I’m watching Xam’d now, it’s also similar, but it’s not very good compared to these.

I like the OPs of Dorohedoro, Girls Last Tour, Serial Experiments Lain, Origins: Spirits of the Past, Chobits, Ghost in the Shell: ARISE op2, Mieruku-chan, Tomo-chan Is a Girl, ofc season 1 Tokyo Ghoul, Magical Destroyers
Pretty sure I forgot a few, but that’s mostly it.

Thanks, I like your answer and have got a couple of anime that I will need to add to my list.
all of those were great, except Magical Destroyers wasn’t really my thing.
If you tell me which ones, I might be able to give you some more interesting recommendations

I’m open to recommendations across categories.
