In the grand scheme of things, yes, absolutely, but that doesn’t mean any time soon.
Extensive devolution needs to have occurred before any current constituent nation of the UK is in anything close to a viable position to leave and not immediately fall in to rolling and severe financial crises.
Why?
Because for 400 years Westminster has consolidated power and wealth, and The City even longer (literally pre-Norman). All UK infrastructure operates to extract value ‘from the provinces’ to the capital.
Look at how fucked Brexit has been, after not even 10% of the equivalent time or effort.
It will take generations, and this is an important, if early, step forward.
