Despite i think this isn’t really a meme and this doesn’t really belong here, I will upvote this because of the cats. Don’t do it again or i will have to upvote that too.
So, Brunel du Neuville painted mostly cats and was most prolific in 1880s and ‘90s Paris.
That means he had to quickly sketch out this whole scene, probably over the course of several days every time he had stage them together eating, and then spend a few week painting it with oils because they didn’t have acrylics back then. And painting in oils is a massive pain in the ass.
I think that’s just a lot more cool than taking cat pics with your iPhone. This dude loved kitties.
But he made a ton of these paintings over the course of a couple of decades. And they’re all awesome— not to mention that they’re still pretty beloved today.
