Sequoia is running well for me and while 27 looks good in some ways, at some stage I expect diminishing returns such as slowness.

I’m also hoping Asahi can extend the life of this thing. I don’t want to loose the current OS for that, though. On my 2011 MacBook I managed to dual-boot Ubuntu with macOS fairly easily. That works well, but it’s an Intel device.

Yeah. I have Ubuntu on the old Intel laptop. I’ll check out a few videos on Asahi to get a feel for installation process on the M1.

Just to go Asahi website there’s a lot of info. If you want to watch a video about that, you can watch Veronica Explains’ video about it.

Her video is a great recommendation. Thanks! I love the way it uses macOS native tools to make the installation less tense. I’ll absolutely be installing it when the time comes. Thanks again!

Using Linux tool to resist partitions and install a boot loader can back fire sometimes if the original system doesn’t play nice with it.

Avahi uses macOS own partitioner via command line. You can switch back and forth between the two systems easily and not worry so much about losing access to one or the other after an update.
