Voting, especially federal, in the US is far from fair, and cannot be used as a metric to measure the actual desires of the majority.
The Senate is tipped hard in favor of rural states, where populations are more fascist. House districts are gerrymandered to hell because, again, rural state legislatures tend to favor the fascists for the same rural reasons. Voter disenfranchisement (applied in a variety of ways) is high as a result of the extensive fascist organization; they know when fewer people vote, fascists are more likely to win.
Combine that with low levels of media literacy and plenty of propaganda (again, for decades), and you get the election outcomes we see.
