Unless someone is directly affected, they should just roll their eyes and move on if they think it’s inappropriate. The only people who have reason to complain are people directly affected. If a make myself laugh on the death bed of a relative, that’s my thing. If I laugh at the funeral of someone else’s relative … well, that’s not so nice. Or it least it could be not so nice. Maybe they also laugh. Totally depends.
I don’t think I am jaded enough to respond to tragedy with a tasteless pun, but I suppose that’s one way of coping with it.
