Speaking to a room of progressive policy experts in Toronto Saturday, Prime Minister Mark Carney offered some insight into what Canada has offered up ahead of an official review of the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) this summer.
What a betrayal, I hope Liberal MPs push for a non-confidence vote.
No, saying “it’s totally on the table that we will fold ourselves into your economy and become more a part of you than ever” is not some kind of super-secret negotiation tactic for getting more independent.
At international PR levels, there is no room for that kind of double-think. World leaders pre-announce the things that they want to happen in order to help make those things happen, and right here Carney is pre-announcing that, if conditions are right, Canada is prepared to continue being America’s little bitch.
I really don’t know why he would do that, but that’s the open-face plain meaning of what he said.
give your head a shake, how do “ban” trade with ol donnie dingle dick without antagonizing the world’s largest military
its called pragmatism - we just selectively ban portions in retaliation, perfectly reasonable, and not casus belli
i mean the state of kentucky will give you toothless blowjobs for life if you buy a bottle of shitty bourbon now, and they were gleefully happy about the tariffs
We used to not trade with them, but the first step would have been to not sign NAFTA, which had destroyed our economy. But then thanks to Trump we were finally out of it and Trudeau went and signed CUSMA. Now Carney has a chance to get us out of CUSMA while making it look like Trump is giving us a free off ramp again and he’s not doing that.
Sure we had some trade but for the most part the US has always been a hostile partner and the bulk of our trade was with Britain because they’re actually our ally.
calm down…its called “stategy” and “tactics” and “bluffing” and “lying”
da fuq, did none of you play poker
the yanks will turning on themselves soon enough
stay strong hosers
Why do people simp like this?

The longer this “strategy” of not banning trade with them goes on the worse we come out of it.

literally too stupid to insult

If by ally you mean we sent everything there because we where a colony then sure.
“Free trade” with the US made us their colony.
In quotes because it was only free one way.

Political opinions aside, you seem like a real chore of a person to be around.
You could see in the links that it goes from there until NAFTA.
maybe
We have traded with the Americans for as long as the USA has existed.
(Yes, since before confederation)
Huh you think NAFTA was when we started trading. Come on you can’t be that dense. They are right there we have alwaysbtrwded with them.
As a primary market.
