I’m managing to get a 5900x to 5Ghz with PBO, which is not bad I guess?
However, I have an urge to upgrade to a 9900x3D, just because.
I am not one of these guys with more money than sense, despite what the above line may imply.
My brain says it won’t really be that much use for my use cases which are playing older DX12 video games and C# & C++ large solution compilation. I’m also trying to learn Unity 3D.
I don’t really play cutting edge games (I like RTS like Gates Of Hell.) - you’re more likely to see me play MAME than Alan Wake tbh.
So, lets say I did upgrade to a 9900X3D - when the price drops ofc. ($599?-You are joking!)
- Is it actually so much better performance than what I have or is it just marketing hype?
- Is my 4070 RTX fast enough for it? Or will my GPU become the bottleneck should I decide to play newer games?
- Would my WD SN850X M2 SSD improve in speed compared to AM4? I think with CrystalDiskMark I am reaching its peak performance already
- Do Visual Studio’s build speeds improve significantly (yes I know Incredibuild, SSD + RAM make a difference too, I will be upgrading to 64GB of RAM for that, no doubt, but just asking if anyone noticed better threaded builds etc.)
Thanks in advance.
