Hi everyone! Second trip to Paris complete, only difference is I used the RER trains to get to and from the city centre, we entered Paris via Orly, that was a smooth experience. However I am leaving through CDG. After a long day, I ensured I was still paying as much attention as possible for gates and tickets, so I topped up my Navigo card to get to CDG via two metro changes then the RER B train. The navigo card worked the whole time until the final gate at CDG. Other travelers seemed to have the old style RATP tickets but I 100% did not see any signs or info relating to correct ticketing. A young man greeted us asking how much i paid for the ticket. Me being the honest person I am I said €7.50. He let us through the gate at first then, The man mentioned that isn’t enough for the ticket and they are around €11. He then requested that me and my girlfriend paid a combination of €60. Once I mentioned I had no cash, I noticed a bit of hesitation to help us. There was a French lady next to us in the same situation but he let her walk away. He then directed me to an ATM. I showed them the money, he counted then guided us to the correct gate then left. I do feel this was more forced upon us, as our French wasn’t great and we were confused. Is this a sort of legal scam? I’m not sure why I couldn’t just pay for a ticket there if I didn’t have the correct ticket. Also the fact he pocketed the money and just went back to standing in the terminal makes me uneasy. Sorry for the long winded story!!!
