I’ve been having intermittent black flickering issues with all versions of the 50 series drivers on my Zotac 5080 solid OC. I had tried all 3 driver version, DDU multiple times, uninstalling / not using Nvidia app and checking / switching out all my HDMI cables when I came across a solution in another forum that has left me without a single black flicker for the entire day!

Create a custom resolution using the following settings

NVCP >> Change Resolution >> [Customize] > Create Custom Resolution >> Timing Standard [CVT - Reduce Blanking] … [Test] … [ok] … Select new Custom resolution … Apply

I am on a Sony XR85X90L 120hz tv, when I selected “120hz” it said range 119-121, and the resolution test failed, when I selected 119, it said range 118-120, and passed. I saved it, and now the 4k 120hz resolution setting works flawlessly without any black frames. So you may need to adjust the Hz up or down 1 for your specific display.

It’s possible Nvidia has changed their default HDMI timings/pixel clock from previous drivers and it may be affecting some users more than others depending on how aggressive/lenient your display is.

Hope this helps anyone also experiencing this problem!
