I’m trying to get 4K 120Hz playback from my gaming PC (3080ti) via my Denon AVR-S960H to my Samsung QN85QN90AAFXZA TV. All devices support 4K 120Hz.

AVR Connections:

  • 5 inputs are 4K capable (CBL/SAT, DVD, Blu-ray, Media Player, Game).
  • One input is 8K capable.
  • Outputs: Monitor 1/ARC/eARC and Monitor 2.

TV Connections:

  • HDMI 1 & 2: Standard
  • HDMI 3: eARC
  • HDMI 4: Gaming

Currently, connecting my PC to any AVR input and then outputting from Monitor 1 to HDMI 3 on the TV limits me to 4K 60Hz. Direct connection from the PC to HDMI 4 on the TV gives 4K 120Hz.

Should I connect Monitor 2 on the AVR to HDMI 4 on the TV for 4K 120Hz? Will my speakers still work? Or should I directly connect the PC to the TV and figure out how to route the audio through the AVR? I don’t currently have another HDMI cable to test this, so before I go out and buy one, I just want to work through my options.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
