Hello all, I’ve had my PC since early 2020. This past summer I’ve built a new rig and given this old PC to my wife so she can play Baldur’s Gate 3 and some other games that aren’t terribly system intensive. Long story short, I’ve been trying to give it a bit of a refresh for her to make it feel new(er) again and help solve a few issues she was having in a couple games.

Old specs: MSI z270 xpower gaming titanium Intel i7-7700k (overclocked with onboard game boost @ 4.80Ghz) Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 4x8GB 3600Mhz (overclocked with XMP @ 3200MHz) MSI Gaming RTX 2060 (6GB) Corsair RM850x Gold Plus PSU Custom Thermaltake water loop

We got some good deals on upgrades for her that made sense and after installing them all, I am now unable to boot with any speed of XMP enabled, the PC always gets a failed message and returns to bios with default settings. At first I thought it was the new set of RAM (Vengeance Pro RGB DDR4 4x16GB 3600Mhz) but I’ve since returned it and exchanged for an entirely different set and am having the same problems. I’ve reflashed the bios, tried every setting of game boost, tried every combination of stock configuration and slot that I can think of. I’ve even asked my IT guys at work and they’re at a loss as well. The PC just refuses to boot with anything higher than 2666Mhz RAM speed. Has anyone else encountered this or know of a solution/troubleshooting to test?
