DNA data storage has gained recent interest due to the high information density of DNA. Here, the authors have developed a method to directly capture information in the form of light and encode it into DNA via bacteria, analogous to a digital camera.
This paper is absolutely blowing me away. I’m so impressed at the work that went into getting this to function properly. This is the culmination of decades of research on cellular and genetic engineering and will open the door to so many exciting iterations and possibilities using the biological circuit they designed
