This week, I received the following e-mail:
Established in 1998, we are proud to be one of the longest-running Usenet providers in Europe. For the past 25 years, we’ve prioritized offering a complete service that doesn’t cut corners when it comes to performance. By storing full binary and text retention across all newsgroups, our users have been able to get the most successful search results.
As you may know, the size of the daily Usenet feed continues to grow drastically. This has resulted in an increase in costs associated with our storage and network requirements. To meet these demands, we will be raising our prices, and there will be a €2 per month increase on your next billing.
I understand needing to keep up with rising demand and prices, but I wonder how that’ll impact yearly/fixed prices. I’m on a €30,00/year plan, so adding €2/month would put it to €54,00/year which is nearly double the original price I was paying. Pretty happy with their service and reliability, but doubling the price would be a bit extreme (or so I think).
