For background I have some time off work early next month and I figured I’d like to check out somewhere in SE Asia, I’ll be coming in from North America. I have a voucher for Cathay Pacific as well to HK so from there I can plan my flights. I have backpacked extensively through Europe, S. America, and Australia, but never hit Asia yet; this will be a quick getaway but I do want a 4-6 month trip sometime down the road. So far I’m thinking Manila/Palawan, or Phuket/Krabi possibly? Bali/Gili Islands have also been recommended heavily to me. Open to literally anything!
Ideally:
- Budget friendly, I’m not crazy frugal but saving money is always great. I enjoy hostels and even used to work at one so that’s not an issue.
- Somewhere warm, sandy beaches a big plus, -20°C here in Canada is making me lose my mind. Don’t mind getting wet either as I know it’s rainy season in a few places.
- Likely one country only but open to two if they’re small enough I can check things out without being toooo rushed.
- Easy movement options, I don’t want to be bogged down by a 14 hour bus ride and waste a day.
- Nature > cities, I work as an auxiliary park ranger so being outside 24/7 is my favourite!
I know it’s a short time frame but I gotta escape all this snow we’re having for a bit haha. TIA!
