Hi all,

If I’m honest, I feel as if I already know the answer to this question, but I suppose I wanted some further advice just in case.

For some background I got an 8 months leave from work and I have been using that time to do a bit of traveling, I’m currently in New Zealand but I aim to hit Austarlia on Xmas and I was hoping to visit one of the above at the end of January for around ten days before moving on the SE Asia.

However, I have been hearing several things regarding the safety aspect of New Caledonia due to some riots, road blocks and possible attacks on tourists, I have had a look but apart from some older news reports I’m not sure if this is still the case. Failing that, I was going to head to Vanuatu instead, but now it appears that they have unfortunately had an earthquake. I am aware that the weather in these places isn’t the best at this time of year but I was happy to brunt it, I had also thought about Fiji as an alternative but the cost of flights from Brisbane just seems a bit too much for me.

Is it worth trying either of these places while I’m in this part of the world, or am I as well to leave it this time round?

TIA and I apologize if it’s a completely ridiculous question.
