Just played The Quarry, and it was a blast. Can highly recommend if you enjoy choices based story games. My favorite genres are story games, turn based tactical, and roguelikes. I find I don’t have a huge amount of time to play, so I like games that aren’t too complex and that you can pick up and play without having to remember how the game works.

Didn’t follow TGAs this year. For 2024 games, I really enjoyed Selaco, Spiritfall, Portal Revolution, and Arco.

I only played around 5 minutes of the My Sims Kingdom that came out on the Switch. I am in my finals week so I haven’t been able to play anything, but after the 19th I’m free (until January)! My favourite genre seems to be cozy games, so that’s interesting, although I also like Baldur’s Gate 3 and Legend of Zelda, so I don’t know what to say about that.

I don’t pay attention to the game awards, I think CaseOh won something. I liked playing my switch games and some on steam this year, not much gaming from me unfortunately. I imagine next year will be even less games because it’s my final year of undergrad which means I have to lock in.

This was probably the best TGA ever. Even the skits were funny. Definitely intrigued by the idea of an Elden Ring spin-off but the football game from the Sifu devs looked really cool too.

Yeah, definitely the best TGA ever. And I’m actually interested in the Elden Ring spin-off. I actually want it, warts and all. I know it’s a GaaS-type deal. But I don’t care, provided it’s done well for a good enough time, at least…

@Makan I’ve played a bit of Mirthwood an indie game that’s kind of a mashup between stardew valley and the sims

Then went to check out Path of Exiles 2 which I’m enjoying so far.

Still on factorio. About 120 hours into the save. Pausing now to study programming a bit, but will play less hard, for the upcoming months, likely.

Replayed two flash games from my childhood that held up incredibly well. First was Battle of Britain 303 Squadron, and the second 1066. Would recommend if you have 15 minutes to spare!

Damn, flash games. They still around? What about Tetris on the Internet or as a flash game?

I was watching a video saying that they were held in “flash base,” as an archive.

I will never forget the intense and deep disappointment I felt after playing DA2. I hear Inquisition was better, but the entire series was dead to me from that point forward and I lost faith in direction of the series from that point.

I’m not the “stop having fun” type, but it’s a bummer to hear that they never managed to bring it back to the great to the same spot that made the first game so phenomenal.

I know what you mean. I really enjoyed Inquisition, I still play it today. It’s not perfect but it’s great. Veilguard just feels like a bad cartoon. Example: I’m playing as a Shadow Dragon and everyone keeps explaining to me what the Shadow Dragons do. Ok, yep, read the codex, read my own intro, I got it.

It was originally supposed to be a heavily monetized live service game and they had to pivot really late in development because of backlash during playtesting. A lot of the weirdness you see like that is because they were reworking what basically amounted to a bad mmo. I hear the last few hours of the story are pretty good though.

      Damn.

I want to desperately enjoy The Veilguard and I still plan to buy it. I loved Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age Inquisition growing up.

Too bad only three decisions carry over from the third game…

I’ve been playing some Pokémon. I’m mostly finished w/ Fire Red, just need to rematch the Elite 4, and I’m mostly done with Let’s Go Pikachu too, which I started playing because a friend is also playing right now. And although it is extremely easy difficulty wise, I’m doing a living dex since catching Pokémon in this game is, at least, fun.

I’m getting the urge to go back to Baldur’s Gate 3, Breath of the Wild and Disco Elysium, all which I haven’t finished yet, unfortunately.

About TGA, I wasn’t expecting another FromSoftware game, and it being an Elden Ring alternate reality 3-player roguelike? SIGN ME IN, the trailer was cool, I want to see where this goes. Other than that, the only other games that caught my attention where the football game which looked so fucking cool, and this comes from someone that absolutely hate sports games, specially Fifa; The Long Dark looked super cool too and the new Ninja Gaiden looked amazing. I’m also interested in Onimusha after the trailer on TGA, so I’ll take a look into the games some time.

Ah, I can see that you have Kras Mazov as your username, but you haven’t finished Disco Elysium.

Shows the effect the game had on you just like it did to all of us…

I finished Tactical Breach Wizards recently, which is weird, because I usually bounce hard off turn based tactical games. I also generally suck at them. That doesn’t stop me trying them every once in a while because I really -want- to get into them. TBW is one of those rare ones that plays more like a puzzle game and I really enjoyed it. I played on easy and found the mechanics very forgiving. Gameplay mostly revolves around setting up combos with each character’s unique skills, allowing for some very satisfying outcomes when everything goes to plan. Writing is top notch; the story is fun, funny, engaging, humorous and touching with some really good character moments. Art style is very much low-poly pastel indie style, but it’s well executed and looks good IMO. Veterans of the genre might find it a little simplistic, and the main campaign is fairly short, but I absolutely loved it.

Yeah, I generally try hard turn-based tactical games, even though I’m not that good at them.

Finished Berwick Saga recently. Definitely one of the best and most unique turn-based strategy games I’ve ever played. Will probably take forever to play it again because the level of long-term strategy is draining at some points, but I absolutely loved it.

Not sure if I am just too busy or if it’s an industry thing, but I honestly didn’t get excited for anything out of TGA. Don’t even know much about the nominated games. None of them run on my PC either way.

Depending on my level of energy I might play Möbius Front or Xenonauts 1, or just sit back and enjoy some random couch co-op games with my holiday visitor.

I’ve been playing a lot of Baldi’s Basics Plus (0.8 update) recently. Probably going to play either more FreedroidRPG or Songs of Syx next. My favorite genres are still the same: Any type of RPG (turn-based, action, …) and RTS games, particularly more complex city builders.

I’ve watched TGA but there is nothing really in particular that stands out to me. Maybe Witcher 4? But I want to see some gameplay first. In terms of 2024 games I really enjoyed Portal: Revolution.

I haven’t played too much of the main quest yet but it’s a top-down isometric ARPG like Fallout or Diablo. Basically you play as Tux the penguin (the Linux mascot) on a quest to fight rogue robots who’ll attack anyone on sight. It’s licensed under the GPLv2 so it’s libre open source software. Most Linux distros and BSDs feature it in their native package repositories but it’s also on Steam as of last year.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is the best Deus Ex game that’s not the very first one lol

But I liked Human Revolution, just not as much as Mankind Divided.
