Hello r/UFOs community,
As the topic of UFOs increasingly intersects with the political realm, our mod team faces challenges in ensuring the sub remains focused, respectful, and inclusive. We’re reaching out to gather your thoughts on how we should approach political posts and comments.
Context:
Consistency in Moderation: We’ve noticed inconsistencies in identifying and removing off-topic political posts/comments. While some mods see the relevance of critical comments on political figures, others believe it can lead to off-topic and potentially toxic discussions.
Political Campaigning: Some political candidates have begun promoting their campaigns here. We’re wary of appearing biased or endorsing specific candidates based on their stance on UFO disclosure.
Disclosure and Politics: If we’re aiming for disclosure from our governments, political discussions are relevant. However, they can also become divisive and detract from the main topic.
Global Audience: While many of our members are from the US, we’re a global community. US-centric political discussions might not resonate with everyone and could overshadow other important topics.
Potential for Disruption: We’re aware that divisive political discussions could be weaponized by those wanting to derail the conversation on UFOs.
Censorship Concerns: We’ve always been wary of censoring content in general, but especially concerned with censoring political content now that political activism towards UFO disclosure is gaining traction.
Your Feedback:
Please participate in the poll and share your thoughts. If none of the options resonate with you, comment with your suggestions or upvote comments that align with your views. We’ll consider the top comments when reviewing poll results.
Thank you for helping us maintain the integrity and focus of r/UFOs. Your input is invaluable.
Warm regards,
The r/UFOs Mod Team
