While "Wicked" is the first of a two-part adaptation, Universal decided to downplay the Part One nature of the film in its marketing.

    Just make it long with an intermission.

    Lots of old musical films did that. Like Oklahoma!, Fiddler on the Roof, and Hello Dolly.
