Rewatching this part of the episode caused me to literally laugh out lout at just how over the top edgy Heero was being. The musical sting that happens after he drops his line is really what pushed it over the top for me.

It’s even funnier when you realize ALL the times Heero almost kills her. Like, right in episode 1 he almost shoots her shuttle down.
I love this scene so much. Everyone always focuses on how edgy Heero is being, which is of course a really funny aspect of this scene. The clapping is what always gets the first laugh out of me though. It’s just so absurd.
That’s true! I hadn’t thought about how silly that was until you pointed it out. Relena has a posse like she is some kind of Villainess.

Trying to think of what my first anime crush was, I think it was probably Sailor Mercury. This probably has set me up for a lifetime of rooting for blue-haired heroines that will ultimately lose.
Rewatched Wing a few years back as a nostalgia watch. I was surprised by how ridiculous this scene was. And then there’s the edgelord Wufei.
Lol, Wu Fei is certainly one of the least likeable of the main set of pilots. I remember liking Duo a lot though, and Trowa wasn’t bad despite his swept bangs look.
