Ever watch a film that was hailed as groundbreaking, only to stumble upon an earlier, lesser-known movie that makes you realize the ‘unique’ one wasn’t so original after all? For instance, The Shining felt less special after I saw Burnt Offerings (which came out years earlier with a similar plot). And the recent horror flick Long Legs, praised for being different, felt like it borrowed heavily from the 1997 Japanese film Cure.
