Great performances from a solid cast: Anthony Hopkins, Benicio Del Toro, Emily Blunt, Hugo Weaving, among many others.

Fantastic practical effects with with an Academy Award for Best Make-up (awarded to Rick Baker and Dave Elsey). The same Rick Baker who also won the same award for ‘An American Werewolf in London’. Awesome production value with great locations, sets, costumes and nice cinematography. Gene Simmons and David Lee Roth among others were called in to do the Wolfman’s howls.

Make sure you watch the unrated (directors cut) version, if possible, which is available on Prime right now (along with ‘An American Werewolf in London’). The unrated version has an extra 16 minutes added with more gore, of course, and a lot of the story they left out of the theatrical version (even a scene with Max Von Sydow).
