Obviously we all value privacy, but what even happens with all the data big tech collects every second? Like, how does this business model even work? Now when I think about it, I dont have the slightest idea how this model works.

I mean, lets say I farm data from a million people and sell them, what happens? Whoever got the data will draw some conclusions for recent trends or something and then what? I mean, at least the data is anonymized, so its not like they can specifically target the people the data comes from for profit. And isnt all the data obsolete just hours later? Will the company buy “updated” data a few months later? Its almost shocking that I lack a fundamental understanding and how you barely see any articles about this huge ass business model by chance. Its something you specifically need to do your own research despite the fact that its a question EVERYONE should care about.
