Amid passionate public objections to a proposal to put more pressure on vacant property owners and ban sitting or lying on sidewalks in Downtown Albuquerque, city councilors voted down the bill almost unanimously Monday night.
Good, it should not have passed. I’m all for doing something for the unhoused, but this isn’t the solution.
How about we make temporary lodging in the fenced off lot in front of the bus/train station?
I think we need multiple solutions with provisions for temporary lodging being part of it. It’s not ideal but with rent so expensive it’s inevitable people will be forced outside.
Agreed! Any ideas as to get these things done?
IMHO it starts with the belief that housing is a basic human right.
So like one person on our city council 😮💨
Off topic, but do y’all know where I can find how my elected councilor has been voting?
https://www.cabq.gov/council/find-your-councilor/ there ya go Comrade
