Disclaimer : I am an extreme layman. I’ve set up my own unifi system at home by using YouTube/forums/limited existing networking knowledge.

I have an ongoing problem where my kitchen AP is dropping out. I get around 30 minutes to an hour or two of uptime, before it switches off and reboots. Disconnecting everything every time.

I have tried everything. Swapped the AP for another, replaced all the cabling to this AP, tried a different port on the switch, added a POE injector, reset/readopted AP, manually updated firmware, adopted the AP to another controller, assigned static IP addresses to all APs and switches, NOTHING stops the AP in the kitchen from dropping out!!

I don’t expect anyone to be able to solve this necessarily, but I was hoping that there were some kind internet strangers willing to offer me some suggestions on what could be causing this before I genuinely lose my mind and rip the whole lot out… my setup is below, I’ll answer any questions to the best of my ability.

My setup is in a large, very old, thick walled house in the a-hole of nowhere in the UK.

  • Starlink internet (router in bypass mode)
  • Unifi dream router controlling network

USW-24-POE powering

  • 4 POE APs
  • CCTV cameras (non POE)
  • alarm system (non POE)
  • connected to 2 x TP link switches
  • unifi cloud key gen 2 plus POE
  • unifi access hub (1 pro reader & 1 lite reader)

TP link switch 1

  • 1 POE AP
  • 1 POE cctv camera

TP link switch 2

  • 1 POE AP
  • various Ethernet ports in ancillary building, not currently in use

USW-lite-8-POE powering

  • one POE AP
  • printer/hue lights

All 7 APs are UAP-AC-LR
