Hi,
I’m currently struggling to connect to TOR (see my previous posts)
Therefore I’m looking in the documentation and in the support community. (and been already greatly helped trough lemmy :) )
I was considering to use also the official TOR forum
But I’m surprised that for a project that claim to protect users anonymity and freedom of WWW to use a forum that
- request an email address[1]
- That a moderator [2] need to approve the account
- that each new post need to be approved !
So I can’t use it[1:1] , hopefully their is Lemmy :D
Do you know a lot of email service that do not require to provide a proof of ID ? (phone number, ISP email etc…) ? So hard to keep anonymous in those conditions…
Moderation do not exist, it is simply censorship, see the work of Noam Chomsky
“If the freedom of expression is limited to the ideas that we like, it is not freedom of expression.” ↩︎

Censorship is neither bad nor good. It’s just a thing.
For email try proton (they have an onion site) or tuta.
It’s a webforum, not the tor network itself, yes it’ll have an email login…
Why do people always think that Tor is a tool for anonymity? Its a government-funded system to pierce through other countries firewalls. Most exit nodes are controlled by the US government.
Well received, any sources where we could corroborate that statement ?
If you research this, you’ll find the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory website, and more specific, the Center for High Assurance Computer Systems, listing Tor as one of their products.
