Hello!

I was curious about your guys opinions on Zen browser. Im currently using LibreWolf but enjoyed the look and feel of Zen browser. I tried to look for a Zen comparison on the aspect of privacy but didnt really fond any. So I wanted to see if you guys havet any input or opinion on Zen, anything goes!

I believe Zen’s sole focus is to provide a different UI / UX on top of vanilla Firefox, so I would assume that it is no more or less private than Firefox.

They do seem to be talking a lot about privacy for not having done anything. And i think they mentioned having disabled most of Firefox default telemetry and such. I will have to double check that when i get ho.e though.

Zen looks good, but it isn’t hardened enough and I don’t wanna bother with hardening it myself with Arkenfox when I could just keep using Librewolf.

I gave it a try yesterday but ultimately the change in UI/UX kinda messed with my flow. My mouse had to travel farther across the screen to change tabs, which was the biggest downside. Too much travelling.

There were also parts of the sidebar I wished had the option to toggle hidden or visible. Didn’t really like the sidebar taking up screen real estate on the sides instead of just the top. Felt a bit too tight and squished in. Even changing from Normal to Touch mode didn’t give me enough space. I kept trying to see how I could move the bar back to the top, lol.

Ended up going back to Floorp.

Hotkeys are almost always faster than using a mouse. Ctrl + tab & Ctrl + shift+ tab. Also alt + 1-8.

Ctrl + T to make new tab and Ctrl + W to close current tab.

Very valid. I really enjoy it so far. No matter what browser im on i always spend a new minutes setting everything up. Might actullly harden this some extra. Probably wont get close to librewolf levels but i night be fine with that depending on much i manage to fix.

I found out they have a compact mode which completely hides the sidebar until you move your cursor to the edge. I didnt personally like it but maybe thats something for you?

    • So far this is the only discussion about its privacy …

    • I’m currently using it as a daily driver on PC ( switched from Mercury browser ) and even though it’s still in Alpha , it works fine and I didn’t face any problems with it
