I am trying to do some research on different NVMe’s and what actually is different about them. I have noticed dozens of companies with the same PHISON PCB/Controllers. I just want to make sure my understanding is correct. From what I understand, Phison manufactures these drives for a ton of companies. Under the heatsinks, most of them are actually exactly the same. How does this work behind the scenes? Does a company tell Phison they want x controller and x nand, or does Phison sell these boards as packages and the company just chooses between pre selected configurations? What would actually make say a Sabrent drive different from another brand using the same controller and NAND? Is it just warranty, or is it firmware? Please help me clarify this process if you know. TIA
