On my previous setup I did a cheaper quicker build out of wood. I loved it so much when I got a new truck I decided to put some time and money into a refined version. Ended up doing the frame out of aluminum but the drawers are still out of wood (except for the face plates which are just aluminum sheet).
I dig it! I had a Ranger setup with a bed platform and some tupperware underbed storage boxes. Same function but cheap and ugly. :-)
On that theme, the fiberglass shell was $25 off craigslist because the guy’s wife was nagging him to get it out of the back yard.
