I want to download books and read them on the go. First, where can I get books? I know about libgen, but I rarely find anything I want. Second, where can I read them on the go. I like the concept of e-ink. It doesn’t strain the eyes as much. Are there good cheap tablets I can load my books onto?

What kind of e-Reader. I only know about kindle, but I imagine it is not easy to get my on downloaded books on there. Also, the new ones are a bit to expensive for my price range.

I have Kindle, simply download the file and share to Kindle. Bluefire reader can handle most formats, but for PDF, especially magazines, I use Sidebooks, displays them great on my iPad in landscape.

Edit: Try Mobilism for mags and books

I use my Kobo with Calibre, an open-source piece of software to manage your library. Only had to log in once to the official Kobo account (when I first bought it).

Edit : not as awesome as the long-discontinued Sony e-reader, but I’m perfectly happy with it.

Join my Myanonamouse. They have the largest collection of ebooks and audiobooks. It’s 100% worth it. You can find nearly any title you’re looking for on there. You can only join during a certain weekly window, and have to pass a test that is based on their rules, but it is absolutely worth it, my friend.

Yeah. Anonamouse is super rad. If you don’t already have one, think about getting an external HD and have it just for anonamouse torrents. You’ll get all your bonus points fast.

You might like Anna’s archive. It isn’t a quick way to get heaps of ebooks, but I bet you can download them faster than you read them. Haven’t kept up on e readers in the last several years, I’m sure you can find a decent one on your own though. Avoid Amazon on general principles, and the kobo ones have Walmart integration FYI (bad)

Are you open to audiobooks? I find I can listen a lot more often than I can read. There’s a few good recommendations already here but for audiobooks, Audiobook Bay is pretty good.
