Your dishwasher runs the following cycle:

  1. Fill with water
  2. Rinse dishes
  3. Drain
  4. Fill with water and heat
  5. Pop detergent door open
  6. Wash dishes
  7. Rinse Dishes
  8. Dry

If you really want to make sure your dishes come out clean do the following:

  1. Sprinkle some powder loosely on the door before you close it
  2. Run sink in your kitchen until hot water comes out.

When you do this, the initial rinse has some detergent in it and it uses hot water instead of cold water.

Since I have started doing this I have never had an item come out “still dirty.”
