No mainline games, no Prime games, not even remakes or reboots of older games. A completely new Metroid spin-off. It could have the same gameplay with different characters and location or we could see Samus in a whole different game. Pinball demonstrates that the possibilities are endless.
So, which is your wildest Metroid dream?
@nomadank@lemm.ee I could see Nintendo making a tactical first person shooter (like Counter-Strike or Valorant) in the Metroid universe…!
Possibly a very boring or lame idea to some, but I think a lore-heavy game focusing on the Chozo could be fun. Maybe a JRPG or regular RPG would be cool.
Ok this would be a weird mashup, but has anyone played the Metal Gear Acid games? A Metroid game in that genre - turn based on a grid, with cards that act as your ‘actions’. You could sneak behind an enemy, fire a missile, use the grapple hook to take a shortcut, get to the next room (using the right weapon on the door) and so on. For some reason I feel like that formula would work pretty well set in the Metroid universe.
Sounds super fun!
For example I would love a Dachora and Etecoons metroidvania. The main mechanic would be the collaboration between the different animals: you could instantly switch between them in order to solve puzzle and find secrets.
The focus would be exploration with little to no combat and the mood would be a lot lighter that the usual metroid, maybe even cute Nintendo style. A big inspiration for atmosphere and setting could be Yoku’s island express.
Lastly it could fill the gaps in the story, like how they got to the BSL station after Zebes or where they went after the events of Fusion.
I know this is the most impossible thing ever, but man, how fun it would be.
I’ve always wondered if an xcom style game from the perspective of the federation troops would be cool. Federation Force was very cartoony, which is fine, but the metroid universe is such a gritty horrifying experience for anyone who isnt Samus and I’d love to see a perspective that reflects that. Plus, it would be cool to struggle with your troops through the whole game and then at somepoint have Samus join for a brief sequence and put everything else to shame.
