If you try to use it, please be very careful if you use a candle that wasn’t designed for it.
In Denmark the candles made specifically for christmas trees are designed to not drip, and most importantly, they go out before reaching the end, so that the whole tree doesn’t catch on fire.

No. It’s a weapon for the Thorsfehde. It’s a remnant from the old days when the looser had their eyes burned by a candle to show that they were no longer the patriarch and they didn’t need their eyes anymore to protect their family.

It would actually make a weird kinda sense.
If you’re not familliar with traditional Danish fire-hazards this “cola de gallo” would be a great stirrer for long drinks. You could rest the hook on the rim to keep it from falling into the drink and put gsrnish in the spiral.

Google: Georg Jensen lysholdersæt.
Put a candle into the curly spiral thingy on top, and use the hook under it to put it on a branch of a dead, dry Christmas tree. Put around 20 of these on your tree and dance around it, knocking into the candles once in a while.
Not a real Danish Christmas without a lil fire hazard.

In Denmark, many if not most have transitioned from paraffin candles on the Christmas tree to electric lighting to reduce the fire hazard, but 70 years ago or so, every single Christmas tree was lit with live candles and Georg Jensen would release new candle holders for the Christmas Tree every year
MollyTweedy at 2023-08-18 21:27:23+00:00 ID:

Speak for yourself, you wuss. It’s not Christmas unless you come dangerously close to calling the emergency services at least thrice - an ambulance for overeating, a fire engine for the candles, and a police car for the drunken brawl.

I think, that may be a regional thing. Here in Copenhagen, most of us are able to celebrate things without a need for requesting blue disco lights.

I did say “most of us”. I thought this style of celebration was much more popular in Jylland and Udkantsdanmark, but won’t rule out, that it also occurs in Copenhagen.
Muriana at 2023-08-18 23:06:05+00:00 ID:

It’s funny, because I would have thought it was a province thing to go electric. Not that I inspect a lot of Christmas trees, but I dont think I’ve seen a single one with fake candles. So in the circles I move in its not a thing. And my social bubble us very concentrated around Copenhagen, for better or worse.
It just goes to show how different an experience we can have within a honestly fairly small city.

My parents have a bunch of these with electric lights and have it lit basically the entire time the tree is up. Prettiest night light ever.

The Christmas tree must be lit from it is decorated and until you throw it out.

No one is using electric lights. Also, these candle light holders came out in like the 1990s, far from 70 years ago.

Lots of people use electric lights on their christmas trees. I don’t know when Georg Jensen started their tradition of new annual christmas tree candle holders, but the concept of live candles on the Christmas tree far predates Georg Jensen.

No this device is not for opening eggs for breakfast. It’s something real chicken farmers use for real hen. You see, much like humen, chickens can get constipated. Especially with the historical low protein wheat in Denmarks. So the device is for when the egg gets stuck in the chicken booty hole. It’s for getting them out. It’s called an æggehaps, which means egg grabber, but i think the eggstrapolater sounds cooler
