I searched for information and Google pointed me to a Lemmy posting at: https://lemmy.world/post/1697414

My main account is this one on lemm.ee and I would like to comment in that post from this account, but I can’t figure out how to view that specific post from this account. Is there some trick with putting a “!” in front of that path?

I was using Firefox on Android when I found the link from the Google search. I have many apps, but not Sync. I will try that. I tried finding the post using one of my apps by scrolling through that community, while logged in only with the lemm.ee account, but I couldn’t seem to find it.

I just now realized your problem, was not aware there is difference between opening linked post from your own instance VS using original post URL.

Search in your own instance should be the only possible solution as someone else described earlier. Found this GitHub issue already discussing this problem.

I now wonder if each instance caches/duplicates all content from other instance posts or it just downloads it on demand.

Would still recommend Sync instead of browser though. This was one of the most popular Reddit clients before API change and pretty much the only reason why I stopped using reddit after its closure.

Edit: lemmy.world is down again, yet I can still browse posts from its communities so looks like each instance does indeed duplicate posts/comments. Wonder about scalability in long term…

I installed Sync and logged in with just my lemm.ee account and clicked the link in my above post. I was taken to the post, but I couldn’t see any of the comments, but I saw the indicator showing that 52 comments existed. I was able to up vote the post, but I didn’t try to reply.

I’ll explore some of the other suggestions. Thanks
