Has anyone else dealt with this new bullshit trend by car dealerships? Wife and I went to look at a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid SE yesterday - it was listed on the website for $35,714 (true MSRP is actually around $33,920) but it’s hard to find one “in stock”, so we were willing to deal with that. We spent a bunch of time emailing back and forth with one of the employees, drove all the way out there and did a test drive, only to see that they had already tacked on an additional $2,000 of BS fees for “tire, wheel, and exterior protection” on the window sticker. Then, when we finish up and go inside, the total is actually $40,814 because they added a $3,000 “market adjustment fee”. Car dealerships already make a good profit by selling a car at MSRP, but now they’re just taking complete advantage of people, and unfortunately too many people are totally willing to pay whatever they ask.
