They joined before 1949. Because of the sensitive nature of the situation, politics cannot be brought up at all when I meet them, but that does not stop my excitement! I’m posting here because I have nowhere else to talk about this. I’ll see if I can post about it again in a few weeks to let all of you know what kind of person they are or if they had good life advice.
politics cannot be brought up at all when I meet them
What was the reasoning given for this?
They are too old, I am not supposed to know they were an original party member, and the pretenses for meeting them are that I am a friend of their family
just gotta show up in the Mao suit and never mention it
🫡🫡🫡 absolutely
Holy shit m8
Are we talking about someone potentially > 80yo? Lol
Yes they are extremely old. They’re not actually sure what year they were born because they might have faked their identity at some point to avoid persecution.
What are you going to talk with this person? Would be interesting to know what this person thinks about current China.
That’s a good idea. I’m going to see if I can ask a leading question to the effect of “considering your life experiences, what do you think about the world today?” or “what has been the biggest change you’ve seen in your lifetime?”
I have also had the chance to meet a pre-new china member of the cpc. He was my grandpa actually. Unfortunately he died a couple years ago and the last time I was back in china I didn’t know what a marx was…
I wish you the best of experiences though.
Fucking amazing!!!
Oh how nice! It’s always lovely to have a chat with the elderly and learn about their perspective. It’s nice for them too, it’s hard to find new people to talk to, especially at such an advanced age like that (I’m guessing they’re in their 90s at least)
