DS Lite? Yes. DSi XL? For sure. 2DS XL, 3DS and its New and XL variants? You bet. But not a single 2DS aftermarket shell. Single backplates are sold here and there but not the whole assembly.
What gives? Is the 2DS really that niche compared to its siblings?
Hey so I thought I’d share with you an idea I’ve been kicking around to improve the appearance of my 2ds. I have been considering purchasing a vinyl decal/skin from someone like decalgirl or mightyskins, and after applying it, putting a clear shell on the console like the ones that you can find on zedlabz or ebay. It wouldn’t be an ideal solution, but it would give it a custom look that would also protect the console and skin from damage moving forward.
I ordered a clear shell from Zedlabz. Once it arrives, I’ll have a experiment with it myself. Just a suggestion from a fella that commiserates with ya!
Oh, that sounds interesting - thanks for the suggestion! I’d be interested in hearing about or seeing the results if you don’t mind. :) Appreciate it!
Update. My order arrived and it was metallic black instead of clear. Thought I would share. Awaiting the right product. May be a couple weeks.
The sleeve/shell seems to look pretty much like I’d imagined it to look like. Curious to see the final result. Thanks for sharing. :)
Will you be getting a replacement since the order was delivered incorrectly?
The clear one is on the way but it’s coming to the US from the UK so it may take a while. When it arrives, I’ll post a pic of the vinyl skin under the clear shell. I ordered a plain black skin, as well as a retro inspired skin that is black and gray. Will attach pics of the retro skin for a better idea of what I’m hoping to use. But since the metallic black doesn’t look so bad, I figured I’d share with ya.
Additional edit, I’m gonna attach a screenshot of the clear shell that I was expecting to receive. So yah. I was shooting for a black retro vinyl skin under the clear shell. But I’ll check back in when I can finally make that happen.
Gotcha! Looks cool :)
I see the vision! Looks cool :)
