What an interesting film. It’s a horror film about a dance troop out of Berlin that is run by a coven of witches. It’s based in the 1977 Italian film of the same name.
It’s good! I didn’t love it like so many others as I often found the story elements needlessly confusing and convoluted. It’s over 2.5 hour running time isn’t earned as the story is much simpler than the film lets on.
Overall, if you’re a fan of arthouse horror similar to Black Swan, check it out.
Starts out strong, but off the rails by the end. Turning the dances into spells was a brilliant move though.
I see it completely differently. The bonkers ending is the cherry on top.
If you haven’t seen the Dario argent one, do. Don’t watch the remake first.
The guy made a few good ones and that’s one of them.
I had not seen the original before I saw the remake, but if I had then I still wouldn’t have been prepared for that lady turning into a pretzel.
And Thom Yorke composed the music, it’s beautiful.
I enjoyed this one quite a bit, although as many have mentioned it gets pretty wild towards the end. I have no nostalgia for the original, but watched it a few months before this one and the two contrast really well. For one, Thom Yorke’s soundtrack is absolutely stunning and such an interesting choice considering Goblin’s music in the original.
The ending “scene” to that music is just 👏👏👏. I go to the theatre to be surprised, and Suspiria 2018 was a real treat
I loved the original, I never knew they made a remake. Thanks!
