I think if people want to believe in the bible as being the “true word of God,” that’s fine, but to me it’s akin to believing the Wizard of Oz or Winnie the Pooh are works of non-fiction. That they give comfort and some wisdom, I don’t dispute. But that they are literal representations of anything, I certainly dispute. Believe whatever you will, but keep it as your own and don’t use it as a weapon to justify war or oppression of others.
