I just grabbed the final cards I needed for my Isu, the Abominable(comments welcome!). It started out as a yeti-themed deck but there just wasn’t enough to keep it going so it morphed into a pretty standard snow deck I think.
I am definitely looking forward to trying to get the Thespians Stage -> Dark Depths combo off at the table!
May try again with the yetis in another deck. Not sure it would work, but the theme in my head is “hunting yetis” where you have yetis for beating folks with and other cards creating clue tokens. But yeah, not sure about the synergy yet…
Ive been eyeing Tom Bombadil as a commander. I just need to sift through my bulk to see what sagas I already have to gauge what all Id like to buy to piece it together. Thinking it’d be cool to lean on the sagas from Neon Dynasty that turn into creatures, but I am not sure what the win con would be yet.
I really like the hobbits precon so I may do some tuning on it eventually but so far stock its won me quite a few games in out play group.
I’m loving my honor precon as well. I’ve only added a few cards to it, but I definitely won the first game pretty nicely. Other games have been rough due to super powered commander decks others use. Still though, I have fun playing it, so that’s the most important to me
Im in the same boat! I have only lost with it once so far and it was against my friend’s OP hydra deck. Its a super good deck. I love the ring mechanic and using it to pluck little bits of damage in unblocked. Such a cool deck!
Haha death by a thousand hobbits
Not LOTR, but I am currently working on a The Mimeoplasm self-mill deck. Main goal is to get creatures with evasive or potective abilities (shadow, protection, fear, indestructible, etc.) and a creature with decent power to make The mimeoplasm come out as the nastiest beater possible. Alt win-con is going to be Thassa’s Oracle since I’m so heavily milling myself anyway. There’s some reanimation in there just to get cards back from the graveyard I might need for the game, but that’s the not the real purpose of it.
I am currently working on Mogis, god of Slaughter rakdos enchantment “everything hurts” decklist. I’m having trouble actually winning games, but I really enjoy being “the problem” !
As far as LotR cards go, Spiteful Banditry will be the main addition to it. I’m also picking up Fiery Inscription for my izzet spellslinger deck.
I have a Mogis deck too. I think I kill myself about 1/4 of the time. I still have a lot of fun with it though; i just go in with mindset for that deck that the goal isn’t necesarrily to win, but to sow chaos. My personal goal is to end the game in a tie by killing everyone (including myself) in the same turn.
I mean, Mogis is the god of slaughter, not the god of winning ! As long as there is chaos and destruction we’re doing it right B)
I love Mogis! My iteration of the group “slug” deck was made after the wife wanted a faster game.
Looking at your list, you’re leaning heavily on enchantments. Let me share a few that I didn’t see on your list.
And leaning on Mogis’s indestructibility, Pestilence / Pyrohemia
Especially brutal with a Stuffy Doll or Brash Taunter
I’m thinking of upgrading the UB baldurs gate precon captain nghathrod, he’s a lot of fun. I was going to make an Omnath Locus of All but the deck ends up being more about black mana generation than I’d like. On the lookout for cool abzan commanders too!
The new Sauron has my attention. Maybe as sort of wheels/waste not deck!
