I am really proud of kapow the top administrator of exploding heads for blocking Mark Zuckerberg’s threads. An instance had to lead the way, I’m glad it was us. I really don’t have much to say, I really want everyone else’s thoughts. The only thing notable I did was get off the Internet for a couple of days. I want to thank everybody for being a part of this instance and lemmy in general and giving a big middle finger to big tech. All of us are here for different reasons. Some of us were banned I’m big tech platforms for various reasons, others escaped, reddit, so I’m just wanted to build something up from nothing and others just want a platform that doesn’t require email. Whatever the reason I celebrate you being here despite any differences we may have. On a personal note I know I have rubbed a lot of you the wrong way, but my mission on the internet remains clear in my mind. My mission is to provide a free speech, safe haven for anybody to post anything without fear of getting their account and all of their content removed. Of course we have to have certain rules in place to prevent Content break laws.
Anyway, let’s share our thoughts on the events of the past week.
People are on some real hippie shit about the fediverse, and not “punishing” Meta users by preemptively denying them access. It’s like they’ve never used the internet before, and never seen the destruction big corp leaves in its path. So far lots of naivety on a lot of instances; many whose userbase should know better, from experience.
Completely agree
I agree and am happy to be here
I’m happy to separate myself as far from meta as possible. Great decision.
Definitely the right choice
I am glad there were some interactions between ourselves and our detractors at the sh.it instance and hope that there continues to be cross-instance dialog.
it’s been a wild ride from using lemmy on WB and EH with a smaller userbase to seeing it “explode” lately
Seriously has been crazy
