I loved that book, and read it to my kid often. But I was raised to be a peacenik Antifa hippie tree-hugger, so books just solidified those beliefs. My parents had me a solid liberal/progressive by about 1953 or 54 (I was a toddler), when everyone we knew was under scrutiny by the House UnAmerican Activities Committee.
