i mean there are very few things you need.
here are some things you don’t need:
- friends and family
- fresh air
- bathing
- happiness
- a healthy diet
- government
- an economic system
- a partner
- a house
- a bed
- grocery stores
so many things didn’t exist 100 years ago, too:
- the abolition of child labor
- the widespread adoption of the 3-meal-day
- women’s right to vote in the US
- the great depression

The only reason the concept of a weekend was implemented was because that was the same time the 40-hour work week was implemented.
before the 40-hour work week existed, people could work and rest whenever they needed to.
But now yes, we do indeed need weekends.
