Now sync is out and it works with redgifs
For some reason I can’t get the GIFs / videos to play in full-screen mode. It just sticks to the post size from the Timeline. Other than that, this seems like a fine app for Lemmy in general. I wish, however, they would make better use of iPad screens, e.g. by adding a sidebar with all the communities you are subscribed to, or something similar.
But it won’t let me add an account on the lemmynsfw.com instance for some reason. It tries really hard to steer you toward the 3 biggest instances. If you dig you can find a way to type in the instance your account is on. But then it says “Instance not found.”
That’s weird I had no problem adding my account that’s on this instance. I downloaded it through the appstore though so it might be a more stable version. I just put the github link up for android users.
Someone in the ask section recommended Thunder as an option so I’ll try that out as well to see if it works with these sites.
Thunder reminds me of the good old Slide for Reddit. I like the two column view on iPad with large pictures! 😍 If they add auto play for Redgifs and improve some stability issues (it’s still in Beta/Test phase) it could become a great app for surfing Lemmy.
This is what I use. Glad to get some additional confirmation it’s the best.
Liftoff seems to be the only client with audio support for redgifs and catbox. Other clients like Sync don’t support audio for a lot of the posts here, even if they support video.
Unfortunately, Liftoff doesn’t have any way to play videos fullscreen.
Any better alternatives out there? Infinity looks promising but it won’t load NSFW communities even when enabled in settings.
I’m on infinity audio support is great. Plus seekbar also available.
