So, would you?

  • Hell yeah, there’s no downsides!
  • I would if it’s what it takes to be my preferred gender.
  • Maybe, I’m kinda torn…
  • No! I don’t want to be my fursona for real…

Some clarification:

  • You would be the only one turned into an anthro, everyone else is still human.
  • If you have multiple fursona, you’d have to choose one.
  • The gender of the fursona you chose to turn to would match your preferred gender.
  • You wouldn’t receive the superpowers of your fursona if they had one. You wouldn’t become extremely large, have superpowers (especially not omnipotence or shapeshifting), or anything else other than an ordinary anthro.

My response:

Personally, I’m kinda torn. Becoming both my fursona and my gender at the same time would be a dream come true. Being my fursona isn’t just a downside, it’s what I wanted.

But, in this scenario, I’d be the only anthro raccoon-- or anthro at all-- in the sea of humans. Thinking about it, if humans already discriminate against others just because of sexuality and gender (think of queerphobia and transphobia), imagine how they’d react to a completely different species, one that looks like an animal.

It’d be cool to be my girl fursona, but very hard with how humans behave to anything different from them (also, funnily enough, I imagine myself as my fursona commenting on humans when I wrote that sentence).

Gosh, can you imagine how baffled everyone else would be? The other ramifications as well… Furries around the world would be hounding (heh, pun) you to demand you change them as well, or tell them how you changed, and your only answer would be “ehh??” You’d be the focus of all the late night talk shows, probably get way more than just fifteen minutes of fame. If played right, you could be a celebrity within the year.

Clothing would be a whole issue. Your entire wardrobe would (likely) become immediately useless. Shoes and socks aren’t gonna work for most anthro feet, and not many pants, skirts, or dresses have tail holes. Most people would have to learn a whole new skillset of seamster/seamstress(/seamstex?) to re-make your wardrobe.

And the big game hunters – if man is the most dangerous game, what does that mean for a former-human-now-elevated? How long until one of them tries to get a new trophy to mount on their wall? Where do the laws fall on that? Would it be murder or animal cruelty?

There’s a whole ethical debate to follow on health care; would you go to a doctor, or a veterinarian? How would your diet change? Lost pf people have Pokésonas and Pokémon naturally subsist on mainly berries that don’t exactly exist in our boring world. Most real-world animal diets are pretty-well understood, though, so I suppose you could work something out.

Can’t forget the scientists, who would love so very much to have a peek at your anatomy and figure out what and why and how and end up blaming it on quarks or something before locking you in a government facility for forever.

You’d be either a superstar or shunned, renowned or rejected, noteworthy or non grata… it would really be up to the people around you. And they’d be stinky humans, so probably you’d end up a pariah.

But anyway yeah I would definitely do it in a heartbeat

Maybe you could be the next anubis, revered by everyone around you. Or the equivalent of a yeti next door with how distinct your fursona is to everyone else.

Either way, only one word to describe fursona you: unique.

I’m honored to be thought of so highly~<3

My vibe is definitely a lot more cryptid than deific, but I could absolutely see myself doing the furcon circuit with my mates when I’m not at home in goblin-mode. Those conventions would all gladly comp the room and registration just to have me around giving out hugs, posing for live drawing, answering questions at panels, and the persistent rumors of an invite-only room party~

One of my fursonas is a living plush, would I gain the benefits of being a plush if I chose her?

Either way, I think I would. Both of my fursonas are transition goals and I think living as one of them would be absolutely worth any downsides.

I don’t know, I guess you would get it?

The point of that limitation is to ensure that you can’t just give your sona shapeshift ability, then turn into a human and live normally. Or that you can’t just give your sona superpower and take over the world or destroy all your oppositions. I wanted the heavy ramification of being the only anthro in a sea of humans, even as your preferred gender (and your preferred fursona).

But I can’t see being a plush would cause that. Either way, it’s an interesting train of thoughts…

I would love to be a plump, huggable anthro cow, with my ideally-shaped femme body… but I can’t say I would love being the only anthro in the whole world. And for that reason, I’m gonna say no; when I already get nervous around other people, I just don’t think I’d be capable of handling being the one-and-only anthro animal on top of that.

Cool as it would be to be exactly the gender I’d want to be, I don’t really want to be murdered or hate crimed for being a bizarre human-animal hybrid. If everyone changed, or like a large portion of society had a change, I’d jump in too, but if it’s just me… I have social anxiety and I don’t think I’d like all the attention. My friends and spouse would be cool with it at least?

Also I feel like you’d get hit up by creeps all the time who fetishize you. No thanks!

Gut reaction answer: yes, but it means I will hate summer due to having the fur. But being able to become that goofy girl full time without needing padding, that is a win for me.
