Vehicle has had 5 services and I am assuming those miles are motorway miles. I’ll also be doing about 20k miles a year in it. Just wondering if I am buying a car that will now need lots of expensive repairs due to mileage?

I would say not inherently a bad idea. I’m assuming you’re also from the UK? We’ve been kind of conditioned to think that cars are going to somehow explode at 100,000 miles but it’s not the case at all.

A 2019 is going to have the B47 engine rather than the N47 with the notorious timing chain issues. If it’s been serviced on schedule there should be no concern. The yanks may chip in here and go mental because they aren’t used to our service intervals and like to change the oil about every 20 minutes. They can safely be ignored.

To slightly contradict myself here, I will say that if it’s an auto you might consider factoring in repairs or servicing to the gearbox. BMW say it’s a ‘lifetime sealed’ item but ZF say it should be serviced every 60,000 miles. If it has never been serviced you may have problems. If it’s a manual obviously ignore that.

Otherwise, things like suspension components will be starting to go at that mileage. In my experience they are more expensive to replace than other makes, but it’s not horrendous.

If the car looks good, drives well and fairly priced I would consider it.

Thank you for the detailed response. It’s a manual and it is a fairly decent price so may take a punt on it.

I agree with everything, but the N47, especially the latest models, is absolutely rock solid.
