So im currently playing an aberrant mind sorcerer named Ivory. Im going in heavy on the psychic stuff, I took the telekinetic feat and stuff like that to go all in on it. I also have a fun dm approved gimmick which ive been struggling to properly utilize.
Ivory, has a psychic copy of their dead brother, Elarion, in their brain. Basically, the reasoning behind this is that when they were young, they were a powerful but untrained psychic. They were mentally linked to Elarion, who was also psychic when Elarion died. This caused Ivory to create a mental copy, which manifests as a ghostly image only Ivory can see, unless they link with someone else.
Mechanically, I can pick and choose who sees this character. They cant interact with the environment without using Ivory’s mage hand, which has the same limitations as a regular mage hand. This is also how I flavor metamagics, Elarion rushes up and casts a spell in the place of Ivory
Ive been struggling to properly use this gimmick though. The most use it has gotten was in this one time I used it to ask a question to someone(this person is unable to tell a lie and I wanted to find out how this worked). Also in combat when I used metamagics. However ive really been struggling to fit this gimmick into the narrative and events. I feel like I dont have a chance to incorporate it, and when I do I am worried about bringing the pacing to a halt as I switch into what is essentially a seperate character(in terms of roleplaying, if that makes sense).
Any ideas on what I can do to start roleplaying this gimmick a bit more? Thanks. Im happy to provide any more information
