Is it possible for a loose positive terminal to cause parts of the engine to remain on and cause battery drainage?

Hello,

2013 BMW 328i xdrive N20. I’ve been having battery drainage issues which my mechanic found out to be caused by a parasitic draw.

The culprit was the water pump, but after spotting the positive terminal being loosened and afterwards tightened the water pump would no longer turn on while the engine was off.

is this possible? Or could I still be dealing with a parasitic draw?
