Plug in headphones into the headphone jack of your OLED steam deck. If you hear bad static or hum - it means something is wrong and you should submit a support ticket so Valve prioritizes finding a solution. This issue is very widespread
Mod review…
Sennheiser IE80. No issues on LE
LE, no issues with Bose headphones.
White noise is fairly common on nearly all electronic devices. It’s only on the high end where you start getting the expensive audio setups with low noise.
it’s not white noise. it’s significant disturbance. it literally hummmmms
Mine has crackling every time any audio plays. I’ve got a ticket open and will probably RMA. The headphone jack on mine is unusable. It was perfect on my LCD Deck.
I didn’t even know the Deck had a headphone jack until I saw this post. 😂
LE OLED here, no headphone jack issue.
I’m experiencing this on the 1T oled with Sony ier-m9. So far I found two solutions.
- Using the apple usb-c adapter on the usb-c port solves the problem. The only down side is I won’t be able to charge while using my headphones.
- Using a 3.5mm impedance adapter can significantly reduce the noise as well.
yeah it just seems like interference, like on laptops. Don’t think an rma is going to fix anything
Looking like steam support is gonna log in tomorrow to a shit load of RMA tickets.
I’ll try mine out and report status later. So, far I haven’t had to try the headphone jack yet. But this week give me a reason to lol
512GB Oled no issues
So far I tried with a pair of Sennheiser DT-880 Pros on my LE and 1tb OLED. No noise on either Deck.
Tested this. LCD didnt have the problem. OLED did. RMA open now. No thanks Valve.
512GB OLED, no weird sound
1TB OLED no issues on mine
Thanks for the PSA. Just received my 512 OLED and the constant static/hum is present using Apple EarPods.
Same. Wired ones
Same using Sony ones that were tested with another device with no issues
